Grain high-cut
The high grain cut has the advantage that much less straw must be processed through the combine. This increases the harvesting speed and reduces the fuel consumption. This effect is particularly noticeable in high performance combine-harvesters with large working widths, as here a corresponding amount of straw accumulates. Every centimetre of straw that can be left on the field by a high-cut also has a positive effect on the grain drying costs since the lower part of the grain contains the most moisture. Together with Ennepetaler Schneid- und Mähtechnik, New Holland (CNH Industrial) has developed the first professional combine head that combines the advantages of high-cut with those of the low-cut (the so-called Dual Stream System). This is accomplished by the combination of two successively arranged cutting systems. This results in a double-cutting process which has a number of advantages over a conventional harvesting process. Harvesting grain with a combine harvester with Dual Stream technology runs in two coordinated steps. The offset forward, conventional cutting system cuts the grain first at a variable height (grain high-cut) and feeds the crop to the threshing process. At the same time a second ESM double knife cutting system cuts the rest of the straw to a stubble height of about 12 cm. The resulting stalks from this second cutting process remain on the field. The result is a clean and low-cut stubble, which can be easily process. Thus the Dual Stream system double-cut makes it possible to combine high grain cut with classic low cut at a professional level for the first time. The result is relief of the combine harvester, a reduction of the fuel consumption and an increase in harvesting speed. This is extremely effective harvesting technology is made possible by ESM Bidux double knife cutting systems whose cutting properties make such synchronized mowing processes possible. Low energy consumption, low vibration, clog-free operation and accurate cutting results are just as important factors as the insensitivity of the ESM Bidux double knife to foreign objects.
