Products sold under the name BERKY mowers and mowing boats from Anton Berkenheger GmbH & Co. KG have been the top products for water maintenance for decades. BERKY MÄHMASCHINEN manufactures a wide range of different speciality machines for mowing in the water. About 40 employees with many years of experience and ingenuity work in the company headquarters in Haren/Emmeln and develop tailor-made solutions for different applications. The range includes hand-held devices, self-propelled vehicles, attachments, working and mowing boats and other equipment for water management. The foundation of the company was laid by the farmer Anton Berkenheger in 1963 with his development of an innovative cutting system for ditch embankments. With the help of the machine-driven system it was possible to significantly simplify and accelerate the tedious work in ditches for the first time. Berkenheger, who was also head of the Water and Soil Association Meerbach in space Haren/Ems founded Anton Berkenheger & CO KG in Haren-Erika together with the civil engineering contractor Gerhard Knoll and the economist Joseph Göcking in 1964. The immediate success of the company that repeatedly attracted attention with innovative product developments, quickly became a sought-after specialist supplier of mowers for water maintenance. BERKY now exports in the whole world as a company with a diversified range of equipment, vehicles and boats. In 2012, the company delivered a mowing boat to the Olympic Games in London to clear the regatta course for rowers.
