Flail mowing

Flail mowing is a special form of mowing, which owes its name to the so-called flail mower's shaft that is fitted with flails knives. Flail mowing with ESM cutting systems are used in particular when surfaces are farmed extensively and dense and difficult to mow vegetation is expected. In such cases, a flail mower is the right choice, since these types of mowers are also able to cut logs up to 50 mm diameter. Other mowers are unable to cope with such situations or require great attention and care when mowing, which lengthens the working process. Such restrictions do not exist during flail mowing, and the mowing process can be carried out safely without interruptions. An advantage of Flail mowing is the fact that despite the robustness and high cutting force of the mower the cut material is finely and evenly distributed on the mowed area and can remain there as of mulch. Flail mowing is an important measure for the maintenance of the desired vegetation in totally different areas of work and use. The very high cutting power and resilience of the ESM knives makes it suitable for demanding applications in commercial or municipal agriculture and forestry. But flail mowers are also the right choice in vineyards and on the fruit farm and where ever tough vegetation is to be expected. In this application power, robustness, reliability and a versatile mower system are of central importance. Fatigue-free handling and user-friendly repair and maintenance are also required for these applications. Roadside vegetation, which is usually quite dense can be mowed as reliably by flail mowing as tree remnants, tightly vegetated paths and plantations. Very interesting is also the increasing development of flail mowers with remote control. Here, the user is relieved and is not exposed to danger especially steep terrain. In this area also ESM flail mowing technology is the preferred because their high performance components provide additional safety and reliability.
