Flailing technology

The professional ESM flail mowing technology is characterized by special designs and a special mowing method. Unlike mowers with oscillating mowing technology that mow with scissors-like working knives, flail mowers are equipped with a rotating cutting system. The knives on this type of mower are called flails and are mounted on an axle that runs horizontal to the ground, the cutter shaft. By rapid rotation of the cutter shaft the flails are set in motion and cut the material. The robustness of ESM flail mowing technology is ideal for finish mowing and mulching extensively used areas. High grass, thicket and other vegetation can be easily cut and finely shredded. The Ennepetaler Schneid- und Mähtechnik product range of includes different types of flail mowing technologies for each specific area of application. The patented ESM flail blades ensure a clean cut and can handle even dense vegetation with stems up to 50 mm diameter. The resulting clippings are evenly distributed by the mower system and left as mulch to fertilize the ground. The mowing method used in flail mowing requires a specially designed device. Due to the rapid rotation of the cutter shaft stones and foreign objects can be thrown out at high speeds. For this reason the cutter shaft is enclosed by a thick-walled steel housing which is designed to serve as a protection device. The flail mowing technology is used everywhere where scrubs and hedges uneven surfaces are to be mowed, as is the case for example in the extensive landscaping. Here, as in other special applications, other mowing methods are time-consuming and risky. The insensitivity of the cutting units in ESM flail mowers and their sophisticated security system reduce such risks significantly. This is why the low-maintenance and powerful ESM flail mowing technology is used especially in municipal and professional agriculture as well as professional forest, field meadow and pastures.
