Aebi
Aebi Schmidt Holding is a system provider of machines and equipment for clearing and cleaning traffic areas as well as motorised mowers for green spaces. The products are developed and manufactured at four European locations. The German competence centre is located in St. Blasien in Baden Württemberg. Aebi Schmidt Deutschland GmbH's wide-ranging business areas include winter maintenance technology, summer maintenance technology, airport technology, agricultural technology and railway technology.
Aebi - The company history
The company's history dates back to the 19th century. The foundation stone of today's Aebi brand was laid in 1883 by Johann Ulrich Aebi, whose workshop initially built sowing and horse mowing machines and other mechanical equipment. After 1950, the Aebi company specialised in the construction of motorised mowers for agricultural work in hilly and mountainous areas. The Terratrac, a globally successful hillside implement carrier, was launched in 1975 and is still a top product of the Aebi brand today. The Schmidt company was founded in 1920 by Alfred Schmid as a car repair workshop. Initially specialising in snow clearing, the company has continuously expanded its product range since the 1950s to include summer service machines and special machines. The two companies merged in 2007, creating a powerful group of companies with around 1300 employees.
