Double finger
Cutter bar with double fingers are used in different areas of application in agricultural. A common use is the harvesting of green fodder, since in this area a clean knife cut provides an advantage. For this reason double fingers are common in combine cutting systems and for hay harvesting. ESM finger bars are equipped with different types of double fingers. Depending on the mower operating conditions either “normal cut” (finger pitch 76.2 mm) or medium cut (finger pitch 50.8 mm) is selected. In addition, a number of mulching fingers enable problem free movement through crop that has already been cut. If a double finger needs to be replaced because it is worn or broken, the fixing screws must be loosened and the double finger removed from the cutter bar. This process can be time consuming, depending on the degree of double finger wear and the mowing situation. It is therefore important to use a high-quality double finger, which makes the replacement intervals as long as possible and provides for optimum cutting results. The precautionary measures must always be taken into account. The removal and installation of a new double fingers must be performed with great care. The design of the respective cutting system must be considered. The installation instructions supplied with the respective mower drive must be observed. Furthermore, ensure that maintenance intervals and maintenance measures are adhered to. This includes inspecting the blade guide, the mowing knives and the cutter head. The entire cutting unit should always be checked for loose or damaged components. Damaged or broken parts must be replaced.
