Dual Stream Header
The New Holland combine harvester with dual stream header technology which was first introduced at Agritechnica 2013 features an innovative and extremely effective cutting concept. While professional conventionally designed grain combines have only one main cutting system to cut the grain, the Dual Stream Header system works with two consecutively arranged cutting systems. This design offers a number of advantages over the conventional harvester cutting system design. In the Dual Stream header the cutting process consists of two main steps. First, the upper and forward offset conventional cutting system cuts the grain ear at a variably adjustable height and feeds the crop to the threshing process. A second, slightly set-back and deeper mounted ESM double knife cutting system synchronously cuts the remaining straw to a height of 12 cm. The resulting stalk sections remain on the field. With this combination of high cut and low cut the Dual Stream header system combines the advantages of both harvesting methods. The high-cut in harvesting technology is known for the advantage that significantly less straw must be processed through the combine and harvesting process is much more effective and with less fuel consumption. In addition, the remaining straw in the field contains a significant amount of water, which has a positive effect on grain drying costs. Through the Dual Stream Header technology a professional harvesting process can work with a combination of both rotary combine processes - high cut and low cut - for the first time. The Dual Stream concept makes it possible to set the first cutting operation higher, resulting in noticeable combine relief. Dry and processable crop reaches the grain tank while wet straw sections remain on the field. Subsequent soil cultivation on the field is done easily.
