Horse-drawn cutting system

The Bidux® double knife system from ESM used as horse-drawn cutting system enables farms to combine a semi-natural mowing with clean and effective feed production. This mower form has been sought more in recent years by ecologically oriented businesses. The Bidux® double knife system from Ennepetaler Schneid- und Mähtechnik is designed to be suited for a variety of applications and can be used as a horse-drawn cutting system. As in any mowing application specific rules apply for mowing with horses, which must be strictly observed. These operating instructions relate initially to operate the mowing apparatus as such, since a horse-drawn cutting system follows other design conceptions than a cutter for a motorized mowers. But also the fact that in this type of mower a drive with specific behaviour is used must be taken into account. The use of horses as draft animals limits the working width of the cutting system. But working widths up to 2.75 meters are now quite common and are no special burden for the animals. When choosing the correct cutting system width for a horse-drawn cutting system the mowing situation needs to be considered along with the number of working animals to be used. The design of a cutting system for this application must also take into account that horses differ from motorized drives in their drive strength and pulling speed. The ESM Bidux® double knife system for horse-drawn cutting systems takes these specific conditions of mowing with horses into account. The mowing system is easy to pull makes a clean cut through the crop possible with the help of the work horses. This easy pulling is achieved by a slim and well thought out design that significantly reduces the power requirement. The proven Bidux® double knife system with patented ESM Carbodux cutter blades provides for a clean and powerful cut. The result is a smoother, vibration-free work process, in which mower blockage is especially prevented. Since in the context of mowing with a horse-drawn cutting system animal protection plays an important role, factors of this kind are of great importance. A mower that is difficult to move and with clogging tenancies, would mean unsatisfactory cutting results and over burdened horses. These features are not acceptable in an organisation that wants to ecological work with animal welfare. Therefore, specialized ESM technology is needed for this special application.
